Editorial
A reader asked us what "oldskool" means, exactly. Fair question.
It does not mean old. It means a posture: curiosity without permission, craft under constraint, and the conviction that you should understand the machine all the way down. The people who hand-tracked a four-channel module and the people auditing a kernel driver today are running the same firmware in their heads.
This issue is our Halloween number, so we lean spooky: the lost art of the blue box, and a primer on PETSCII for anyone who wants to draw with bones. Light a candle next to the monitor.
